Since the launch of the new Rogers On Demand Online offering in November 2009, the hype has been slow to rise. Early reviews from The Star said that [their] content selection needs improvement and other bloggers have claimed poor design, many tech glitches, and too many ads. Americans already have 1,000′s of free streaming tv shows online via hulu.com and dailymotion.com but due to broadcast restrictions are not available in Canada, this is our saving grace.
Already in it’s second month of operations, RODO has generated 46,000 subscribed Canadians thursty for PVR-like services online. While I can agree with what the critics have already dished out, anything that let’s me watch TV at my desk can’t be anything short of a cube-fever-miricle for millions.
While still in their BETA phase, Rogers promises to add more shows, movies, and features including social networking capabilites. We will be keeping a close eye!
*RODO is currently only available to Rogers services subscribers.
