This past Monday The Stylus Group had their 5th Annual ode to Canadian DJs with their signature Stylus DJ Awards, held at the luxurious Queen Elizabeth Theatre located on Toronto’s waterfront. Whether you were there as a nominee, artist or fan, there was enough lights, camera and star power to go around. Notable appearances were made by international home boy rappers Drake, Saukrates and Belly, Canadian R&B crooners Slakah the Beatchild, Kim Davis and Karl Wolfe, DJ extrodinaires Strating from Scratch, Jojo Flores and P Plus, and power-house producer/director RT! to name a few.
Big winners for the night included Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” for Canadian Hip Hop Single of the Year, Melanie Fiona’s “It Kills Me” for Canadian R&B Single of the Year, Boi1da for Producer of the Year, DJ Wrispect for Mixtape of the Year and Toronto DJ of the Year, DJ Lissa Monet for Female DJ of the Year (2nd time), and Jester & Chief for College Radio Show of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year in a row.
