For the first time in CHRY history, DJ Manifest hosted a 100% Canadian “Canada’s Getting Colder: Richer Than Music” segment at the York U studios for it’s 12-hour Hip Hop Black History Month Celebration. The 2-hour feature focused on Hip Hop influences, urban music development, and culture & heritage. Included in the mix, was a special all Canadian Hip Hop set spun by the one and only DJ Grouch.
Invited panelists included Scratch Lab co-founder & award-winning turntableist DJ Grouch, Universal Music’s Jody Laraya, Urbanology’s Craigg Slowly & Priya R., rapper Theology 3, spoken word extraordinaire Dwayne Morgan, Hip Hop commentator Grand Whiz and many more.
