Ian Andre Espinet and TOFLO

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the inception of the Amnesia party.  3 gentlemen by the names of Ian Andre Espinet, DJ Jason Chambers and DJ Starting From Scratch decided that Toronto needed a party that catered to the hidden ol’school musical gems of our time and created a stage where time didn’t dictate the songs that were played.

Guaranteed to be a party full of surprises, this year’s celebration was definitely no exception.  As much as Ian and I conversate on a regualr basis, he still managed to keep this year’s performances a secret.  Aside from the already annouced R&B group Bel Biv Devoe, in came Amnesia veterans Nice & Smooth, Hip Hop duo Das EFX, and 80′s Pop family group The Jets.  And unannounced to anyone (I am sure of it), one of my all time favorites and probably one of the most under rated R&B girl groups ever Zhane.  Though it was only Renee Neufville, I think she was the one that carried the group anyway.

The crowd was live, the place was packed and the tunes were rolling in hit after hit.  Who could ask for anything more? We didn’t make it out the joint till minutes to 5AM.  Big shout out to all our Twitter fam who also made the impromptu tweetup!
