“This Woman’s Worth” (originally by Kate Bush) I love this cover Just b/c it gives me goose bumps!!! And also because it portrays the strength of a Woman!!!
Softly Softly – because his voice mixed with Sade’s band is a lethal combo. Shows why he’s our modern day Marvin.
This Woman’s Work. No matter how many times I listen to this track, no matter how busy I am or how stressed out I feel, I always completely stop what I’m doing and just listen. What a beautiful artist…xox
gotta get to know you….
the flow/melody and hook are off the charts….and chicks digg it!
Pretty Wings
Pretty Wings because it represents the strength and beauty in separation.
Pretty Wings…. His “come back” single!!! He quicky reminded us why he does what he does and how he does it SO well!… The arrangement, the looping and hidden meaning behind the lyrics, the depth of the story go beyond any of the R&B you here out there today!…. “Time will bring the real end of or trial”; The first few words grab you and pull you in! …. I will NEVER get enough!! … He better not leave us like that again!!!
Fistful of tears – It reminds me to fight through whatever adversity you may have. Although, the answer could be in front of your face. Keeping hanging in there until you figure it out. And, I love that mandolin when it comes in. (I guess that’s what it is.) lol
I know I am not eligible, but A Woman’s Work is a beautful song.
Till The Cops Come Knocking got my lots of action in my younger days.
And off the new album I like Stop The World. http://bit.ly/SMgxj
Sumthin’ Sumthin’, that was the song that introduced me to Maxwell. First hear the song from the movie Love Jones, and that was just a all around great movie, a classic, just like the song. You know what they say, a great song take you back to a time and place in your life. Memories!!!
“Ascension”, It takes me away. Far far away
it would have to be Lonely’s the Only Company. Even tho its a two part song i think it still qualifies as one song. The saxophone reminds me of Kenny G. awesome song to relax to.
When the Cops Come Knocking.. That is my song.. I love it.. Maxwell is the man..
Whenever Wherever Whatever …the Spanish version. Anyone who can make a song that sounds just as beautiful in other languages is #1 on my list!! I love it!
Fortunate.
Why?
“Fortunate to have you girl,
I’m so glad you’re in my world,
Just as sure as the sky is blue,
I bless the day that I found you.”
I hear that song and am filled with the joy that comes from the hope that one day I’ll sing those lyrics myself.
The Lady Suite. This song was on my wedding cd that i compiled myself. Its a dope CD. Everyone loves it
I have never heard Maxwell sing anything I didn’t like so it isn’t easy to nail down a favorite. The very classy Whenever, Wherever, Whatever is my fave because its quiet simplicity is so powerful; it is also unhurried. The lyrics are poignant and sincere, elegant and touching. En Espanol- es extramadamente hermoso. Thematically universal, it is timeless beauty. (And…that beautifully controlled falsetto is the stuff dreams are made of!) Buena suerte to all who enter the contest!
great contest, I love things like this. Let me enter this though.
My favourite Maxwell joint is easily “Fortunate,” simply for the fact that when I first heard it, I said “this will be my wedding song.” The joke is that I was like 16 when I heard it. To this day, a bunch of years later, it still hasn’t changed my mind. I see my self in a tux, with a room full of people, with the spotlight on me, with my hands nervously sweaty, the girl, well, she may be blurry. The song? The song is always so remarkably clear. It’s “Fortunate” by Maxwell.
Peace.
Waaay too many to choose one, but since I have to I would say Fortunate. But I love all of his music.
LIFETIME BY MAX IS MY FAVORITE SONG BECAUSE TO ME IT SAY DNT GIVE UP ON WHAT U WANT IN LIFE. NO MATTER HOW HARD IT IS OR GET JUST “SPREAD YOUR LOVE OUT AND FLY” IT ALSO GIVES ME INSPIRATION AN HOPE…IT MOVES ME “TO THE LIGHT”
My ULTIMATE FAVORITE Maxwell song is “Submerge Til We Become The Sun” because when I hear it I just have this indiscribible feeling. The tone of the song, the lyrics(“Over to under , enter your wonder baby”…”See if I’m breathing; cause I’m not sure tonight”) Max’s voice, it’s a vibe all its own. Its hypnotic and Sensual all at the same time. I cant stop playing it!
Fortunate is definitely my favourite song by Maxwell. His voice with those lyrics make one of his best slow jams. The sincereness of his voice really makes you believe what he’s saying. Perfect for a wedding song or just something you want to listen to when you’re spending time with that special someone in your life. I LOVE MAXWELL and all of his songs. He’s an exceptional artist with a style all his own!
‘Suite Lady’-it’s why my husband and I got together…I was impressed he knew/loved the song as much as I did-connected us in a way I didn’t know could happen especially having known him for 15 yrs…decided we’d get engaged “ain’t no end to what this ring wants to begin with you”…been together 8.5 yrs, married 5.5 yrs, 1.75 children (I’m due in 6wks)…”worked it all out this Lifetime…Lifetime”…I’ve seen Maxwell 5 times in concert (including Buffalo in July since I wasn’t sure about the Tdot concert date) and I’d see him again if my husband wasn’t fearful I’d go into labour
…I’ve remained a faithful fan although many faded and recently resurged…he’s always been my #1 artist…
My Fave Maxwell song has got to be “Whenever Wherever Whatever”.
The lyric alone “And if there’s a thing that you need I’d give you the breath that I breathe” perfectly exemplifies true love, in which you’d give all of urself in the hopes that it brings ur loved one happiness….a dream that some of us may have, but never seem to quite grasp.
Maxwell breathes love back into R&B with each note that he sings.
My favourite Maxwell song would have to be “Fortunate” why? His has such a sweet voice that would take any girl’s breathe away!!
“Lifetime”-is one of my favorite Maxwell songs!
I feel that we all can relate …in a sense w/or life experiences & LOVE.
Update: I will be seeing Maxwell this Friday…:)…4.5 wks until my due date but who cares? Is there a better place to go into labour?
Since I have to pick one song,I pick ‘Pretty Wings’. All his songs are amazing, they all evoke so much emotion in me. I Chose this song because it demonstrates Maxwell’s timelessness. Even to his surprise he is still able to produce hit after hit!
My favorite song by Maxwell would have to be “This Woman’s Work” the song is just amazing. The production, the way his voice sounds over the track it all just sounds so perfect together. He’s probably one of the best Male singers I’ve ever heard and I’d love to see him live one day. But with honest lyrics like this how can you not love this song.
I should be crying, but I just can’t let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can’t stop thinking
Of all the things I should’ve said,
That I never said.
All the things we should’ve done,
That we never did.
All the things I should’ve given,
But I didn’t. Oh, darling, make it go,
Make it go away.
Congratulations to Najat for winning the Maxwell Complete CD Catelogue!
Be nice and congratulate, LOL! Thanks to everyone who entered, your comments were very heartfelt and insightful and I am sure if Maxwell read these he would be happy to see how his music touched your lives. Until next time.
