As a kid I remember Paul and Michael being really good friends. They made hit songs together such as Say,Say,Say and The Girl Is Mine off of the Thriller album (sorry Paul, but MJ Killed you on both songs). Their friendship fell apart in 1985 when Michael went behind Paul’s back and outbid him for the Beatles catalog, which MJ paid a reported $47 mil for the rights for somewhere between 159 to 260 Beatles songs. The catalog is estimated to be worth about $1 billion today. There are rumors circulating that Michael has returned the songs to Paul in his will. It looks like Paul has forgiven Micheal as per his statement:
“It’s so sad and shocking. I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones.
I send my deepest sympathy to his mother and the whole family and to his countless fans all around the world.”
